Description

夏克教派（Shakers）是18世紀由貴格會（Quakers）分支發展而來的基督教教派，以簡樸的生活方式和實用主義聞名，他們的家具設計作品，如：夏克式搖椅（Shaker Rocking Chair），以乾淨的線條、簡潔的外形和精細的工藝為特徵，實踐震教徒對實用性、耐用性與簡樸的追求。Shaker 搖椅誕生於 19 世紀初的美國新英格蘭地區，由工匠根據宗教信仰所設計的實用家具。

夏克教徒的作品對現代家具影響深遠，強調簡約、勞動與秩序，因此設計極為簡潔，省去多餘裝飾，僅透過結構與比例展現工藝美感，特別強調功能與美學統一的理念上。
Shaker椅通常使用松木或楓木製作，靠背為水平彎板，椅面為織帶或藤編，線條乾淨俐落，也常被設計為可懸掛於牆上的形式，方便清掃空間，反映出社群對整潔與節制生活的重。它不只是日常家具，更是一種體現信仰、用勞動敬拜上帝的生活方式。

許多現代主義思潮及設計師，尤其是20世紀的北歐風格和包浩斯學派（the Bauhaus School），從其家具設計中汲取靈感，進一步推動了簡約與功能主義的潮流，影響了後來的北歐與現代主義家具設計。
