Description

Lundi, meaning puffin in Icelandic, was created through a collaboration between Epal Design and Sigurjón Pálsson. The wooden bird’s head is attached to the body by a magnet, allowing it to rotate and change the direction in which the puffin is looking.

In Icelandic, the puffin is called Lundi. The standard version features a red, black, and white beak, while this Pride edition replaces the regular beak colours with a rainbow arrangement of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Epal officially refers to this version as Puffin Pride and states that it was released in connection with Reykjavík Pride, known in Icelandic as Hinsegin dagar í Reykjavík.

The puffin is one of Iceland’s most iconic birds. Puffins are commonly found along Iceland’s rugged coastline, which provides nesting grounds for around 60% of the world’s puffin population. This wooden puffin sculpture has a magnetic head that attaches to the body and can be adjusted freely to face different directions.

Designer Sigurjón Pálsson trained in furniture and architectural design, and is also known for designing the Shorebird wooden bird series for the Danish brand Normann Copenhagen.
