1926 年，Poul Henningsen 在為哥本哈根的論壇展覽廳 (the Forum exhibition hall) 設計燈具時，推出了第一款PH三層燈罩吊燈-PH / 3s，在之後將這種多層次燈罩組合的PH燈具開發成數十款不同形式和型號的經典燈具，讓PH燈成為丹麥設計的經典，燈具設計的典範。
而PH4/3桌燈就是PH /3s的延續，依然遵循著等角螺線的原理，讓燈具呈現出均勻柔和的光源，運用燈罩弧面的等角螺線將光源均勻反射，提高照明的效能，以呈現較均勻的光線。
