Description

The Diplomat Armchair is part of the Diplomat Series designed by Finn Juhl in 1963 for France & Søn. In addition to the armchair, the series includes desks and cabinets, all sharing a distinguished and authoritative aesthetic suited for executive interiors.

In the late 1960s, France & Søn was acquired by CADO, which continued producing the chair. The Diplomat series went on to become one of Finn Juhl’s most iconic works from his later career.

The frame is crafted from exquisite rosewood, featuring deep, expressive grain and elegant, restrained lines. The leather-upholstered seat and backrest offer excellent support, while the overall proportions remain light yet sculptural. The subtly upturned front edge of the armrests is a signature Finn Juhl detail—soft, organic, and highly characteristic of his design language.

The Diplomat Armchair was used in the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber and remained in service until 2013.
