The J67 dining chair is considered a classic of Danish design, originally created by Ejvind A. Johansson for FDB Møbler and first introduced in 1957.
Designer Johansson (1923–2002) was trained as a cabinetmaker and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in 1949. From 1956 to 1958, he served as the head of design at FDB Møbler, continuing the Danish functionalist tradition established by Børge Mogensen, which emphasized the fusion of practical utility and aesthetic clarity.
FDB Møbler ceased production in 1980. After more than three decades of dormancy, the brand was relaunched in 2013, and the J67 was selected as one of four iconic chairs to be faithfully reissued. This particular piece is an original version produced before 1980, featuring a clean, vertical-lined backrest, expressing a modern and restrained visual language that has become the chair’s signature.
