Description

The Frog lounge chair was designed in 1995 by Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni for Living Divani, and has since become one of the brand’s most iconic pieces. Its frame is outlined by a slender metal structure with crisp, minimalist lines, while the seat and backrest are woven from tightly interlaced leather cords, providing breathability, lightness, and resilient support. The open weave also allows light to pass through, creating a sense of transparency and visual weightlessness.

The defining character of the Frog chair lies in its low and expansive proportions. The seat sits close to the ground, and the arms open slightly outward, encouraging a naturally reclined and relaxed posture. The name Frog was inspired by the crouching stance of a frog poised to leap—symbolizing lightness, groundedness, and ease—perfectly echoing Lissoni’s vision of simplicity, comfort, and contemporary living.

Since its debut, the Frog has undergone several material evolutions: from the original version in cane and tubular steel, to later editions in leather and even carbon fiber. These variations highlight the design’s adaptability and lasting vitality. For three decades, it has influenced contemporary seating design not through extravagance, but through its calm, understated presence—an enduring icon of minimal yet luxurious relaxation.
