Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen began designing furniture for France & Daverkosen in 1953, creating a range of lounge chairs, sofas, and tables. In 1957 the company was renamed France & Søn, and this table was produced during the France & Søn period between 1957 and 1967.
This series of tables includes FD515 (round table), FD516 (rectangular table), FD519 (square side table), and the present FD518 (trapezoid side table). All feature a two-tier design combining teak with woven cane.
The tabletop is crafted from solid teak, allowing the edges to be shaped into an elegant rounded profile. The lower woven cane shelf provides additional storage while contributing to the light and airy appearance of the piece.
This compact table is often used beside a sofa as a side table, suitable for placing a table lamp, books, or a vase.
