A very rare and ingeniously compact metamorphic table designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Mogens Kold.
This uncommon drop-leaf table uses Hovmand-Olsen’s “scissor-leg” mechanism: X-shaped crossing legs pivot on round dowels, allowing two height settings for coffee-table or dining-table use. When the twin leaves are opened, the top transitions from a gentle curve to a longer, straighter profile. The dark teak top contrasts with the lighter oak base, giving a light yet sculptural expression characteristic of Danish design from the 1950s–60s.
The table functions as a 53-cm-high coffee table or a 70-cm-high dining table by means of the elevating scissor legs. The top also converts via the drop-leaf extensions to either 100 cm wide or a compact 60 × 100 cm format—an excellent, space-saving solution for smaller interiors.
