The Anniversary Selection is a commemorative catalogue published by the Danish gallery Dansk Møbelkunst to celebrate its 20th anniversary. This publication is not only a catalogue of works and essays, but also a reflection and overview of the role Dansk Møbelkunst has played over the past two decades in the field of Danish furniture and design culture.
As mentioned in the foreword, anniversaries are not only moments for celebration, but also occasions to reflect on past achievements and look toward the future. Over its twenty years of activity, Dansk Møbelkunst has been dedicated to the research, collection, and promotion of twentieth-century Danish furniture design. Through exhibitions and publications, the gallery has helped bring renewed attention and understanding to many important designers and their works.
The catalogue presents works by several important figures in Danish design history, including Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Vilhelm Lauritzen, Peder Moos, Axel Salto, among others, illustrating the close relationship in Danish modern design between architecture, furniture, and craft.
The book includes a foreword by Ole Høstbo and an essay by Michael Sheridan, discussing the cultural background and historical development of Danish furniture and design from both design historical and collecting perspectives. The publication is therefore not only a catalogue of objects and works, but also an important documentary publication.
