The CH33 chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1957 for Carl Hansen & Søn. It was originally produced for about ten years and discontinued around 1967. After approximately 45 years out of production, Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced the chair in 2012, with its official relaunch presented at last year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan.
The CH33 is distinguished by its fluid lines and organic form, embodying Wegner’s masterful balance of shape and function. The CH33T is a variation within the series, where the “T” indicates that the backrest and seat are made from a different wood type than the frame. This particular CH33T features molded walnut veneer for the seat and back, paired with a solid oak frame—a material contrast and color interplay often seen in Wegner’s designs. It also highlights his deep concern for ergonomics and refined craftsmanship.
