This Bernt stool is one of the early representative works of Bernt Petersen. He completed his cabinetmaker’s training in 1957 and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Arts and Crafts, in 1960, after which he began his career as a designer.
The piece was produced by Henrik Wørts Møbelsnedkeri, with a structure that is both simple and precise. The seat in French rattan not only provides breathability and lightness, but also creates tensile strength through its weaving, making the construction both elegant and durable.
The frame is crafted from finely grained, dense rosewood. Its four legs are slender and slightly curved, tapering and subtly carved at the ends, reminiscent of the “horse-hoof” leg seen in Chinese furniture, giving the piece an elegant sense of rhythm.
