PH5因為直徑50CM而命名，利用等角螺線的原理，PH5的四圈優美金屬燈罩，均勻的反射了光線，兩片迷你燈罩漆成紅色和藍色的金屬面，將光線顏色調整成黃昏的光色(PH認為這是一天中光線最美好的時間)，由於PH認為燈具應該扮演延長黃昏狀態的角色，所以燈光的亮度比一般燈具昏暗。1997年Louis Poulsen推出了PH5 plus，將最底部的燈罩由金屬改為霧面玻璃，垂直照度增加為原來的2-3倍，2008年Louis Poulsen為慶祝PH5設計50周年，生產亮面燈罩的PH50，有辣椒紅、薄荷藍、芥辣綠、椰子白和黑橄欖主種顏色。
