Opala最原始為 Hotel Scandinavia in Copenhagen 所設計。這燈原本由Louis Poulsen製作，當時製作的尺寸較大(約50-60cm)，後來由成立於1982年的Pandul公司製作，現由Carl Hansen & Sons公司經銷，推出中型及迷你尺寸 (直徑51cm 及 43cm)。
